I will give Jason credit, he mentioned this at the first of the year.

I was mentioning this the very first time I heard about them wanting to do it I think in 04 or 05. Never have been for it and never will be. If anyone wants to dig back that far they will see I am no Johnny Come Lately against it. It did not start with this years urn of events. Maybe even Counts remembers me arguing with him about it way back then.

I remember. I agree with GC to a point, the economics of it make it hard for a school to say no to UVa-Wise though. I think the current situation with basketball is by far and away much worse, and nobody says one word. At least in football a higher seed plays on a neutral site, in basketball a higher seed could play on a lower seed's home floor. It's not nearly as bad in baseball but it could happen with VHS hosting a game as a lower seed.

I'm personally rooting for UVa-Wise to continue to produce quality facilities for not only UVa-Wise athletics but for region d tournaments as well.

Actually the VHSL is supposed to go by NFHS specifications. UVA Wise does not fit those specs. Why keep bringing GC into this making it out that because they dont get their way they cry? GC is not the only school against it. Everyone in the CMD but Leb is against it. This is about what is right. Not what fans want. It is not about money either. Fact is Region D is cheating their teams wether you or they realize it or not. The Region D Finals are the only Regional playoff games played on a Field that does not meet NFHS specifications. One example is Goalposts at Wise are only 18 feet wide. NFHS specification goalposts are 24 feet wide. All other Region Final games are played on fields that meet NFHS specifications. I do know Winds of Change are blowing and I will leave it at that. This is also my last post in this thread on this issue.

OK, who else is against it? No one in this thread is complaining except GC people. I bring GC in because GC is the loudest of the complainers.

Who are you to determine what is right and wrong? Are you the authority on what is right and wrong now? Is Gate City somehow morally above everyone else? Do tehy get to decide what is right and what is wrong?

How is it cheating the kids? The kids get to play on a nice, college field with a great atmosphere.
Us fans get to enjoy two great ballgames for the price of one.

If I were Gate City, I'd be worried MORE about beating the team in front of you instead of worrying about playing at UVAW.

Maybe if GC was more worried about Lebanon than playing at UVAW, they might have won.

After reading your petition I have a question. In all seriousness, can you tell me what facilities are better than UVa-Wise? .

GC has no visitor seating
PV has no locker room space
Lebanon has poor visitor seating
CW has poor parking and poor visitor seating
JIB has poor parking
Appalachia is well Appalachia

I think I have covered everybody that has played up at UVa-Wise since we started playing up there. None are better in my honest opinion, the closest being GC and PV. At least their fields will hold up.

Last I checked this is Region D, not Region IV. It's that kind of arrogance that gets on everybody's last nerve. You chose to drop from AA to A. If you don't like how things are done, go back to Region IV.

What Arrogance? Just telling PVFan that in Region 4 the Higher Seed in Basketball hosted their games. Like I said I am not all that in to basketball. Last I checked I did not choose to drop from AA to A. Only one that did was Lee High. GC and VA High just quit petitioning to play up. Read everything before posting next time and you wont look so much like a fool as you have been.

My petition is not to move the doubleheader. Would just as well do away with it as the D1 Top seed should get the choice of where they want to play also. Higher Seed should host. That or talk Richlands into letting us have it at their place.

That is my bad. I really need to start a different one with better wording. I wrote that one up before learning Wise's Field does not meet NHFS Specs.
